As thought. A thought that occurs though, is that the bots in the botnet are all linked to different servers, but all of which have a nickmax of 30. This is the second one I've connected to Efnet, (but maybe I messed the conf up for the first efnet one) but if net type is set to 0, will the max of 9...

I'm aware of this. I have a couple that are set to 30 for both nick and handle length. This new bot is the only one I can't get to accept that value, and is currently unlinked to the rest of the net. (They wont even link otherwise, correct?) I honestly don't know why I can't get it to compile thinki...

That'd solve one thing I didn't know. I still can't get the handle lengths on the botnet to be any longer than 9 in 1.6.18 though. I think I'll just give up and use an older package, this is not worth the hassle.

You shouldn't need to re-do the entire conf-file. Just try replacing the set servers section. Follow esix's advice, replace "uk.quakenet.org:6667" with "irc.quakenet.org:6667" it might be having problems resolving certain servers- so set it to the hub. set servers { irc.quakenet....

Not neccessarily. He just said he had an FTP. I have an FTP too. It's certainly not a shell. He just needs to find out if he has a shell as well, and seeing as he doesn't know, the answer is most likely no.

Me too, as it seems ;)

(Does anyone else have this problem? Or is able to re-create it? It might be a bug seeing as I did get this version from CVS- 1.6.18+cleanup.)

No idea mate. The help page lists two different configure lines to use for different versions, and says that the TCL library might be in a different directory under different operating systems. make sure it's the right library- you might be linking to an old library instead of the shiny new one you ...

if you don't already know, the most likely answer is you don't. Other than that, let's experiment!! Download Putty (goto www.download.com and search for it) use this client, for the address, put in your FTP address and select "SSH" and then click "open" It''ll ask about cachine t...

..I did search for it. I only found references to editing that same line in eggdrop.h that I've already mentioned. I changed it. I recompiled. In the newest version it didn't have the same effect. It STILL truncates at nine, even if I change it. this has worked in every version but 1.6.18- I was cur...

You cannot setup an eggdrop using only an FTP server. Setting up eggdrop requires a Shell, where you can login, compile, and run the eggdrop. The only use you'll have for the FTP is to upload the Tar, or possibly upload scripts and conf files. If you do not have access to a shell, you can stop tryin...

Look into your conf file (Apparently X.conf)
and find where you set the botnet ports.

Most likely you've used the one where it says "Listen XXXX all"
and the default is 3333.

Don't telnet on port 23, use the port you've specified in your conf.

Nick/HandleLen

perhaps a very easy question, mayhaps not. On the older versions of eggdrop (1.6.16 and below?) You could change eggdrop.h at.. #define HANDLEN 9 /* valid values 9->NICKMAX */ #define NICKMAX 32 /* valid values HANDLEN->32 */ to change what it recognized as valid handles so it wouldn't truncate the ...
