There is no delay set in the script, that's the usual output speed of the eggdrop. You can try switching the puthelp commands with putquick commands.

I don't use curl, so I cannot tell you which version is best. As for the second issue: following the link in your bot's answer will take you to the syntax of the !chanset command: "!chanset <$setting|$settingsPack> [$options]" So leave out the channel and it should work. If it doesn't work...

AFAIK the default release date is determined by the ip address you are using when accessing imdb. I could pull the other release dates from the release dates page, but at the moment I'm too lazy to do that.

It removes all the stuff from the name that imdb can't handle so that you still get a useful result.

That's right - having more than one variable on one line and still suppressing the corresponding output if no data is found is exactly the point of the encapsulation with the pipe character.
