The script offers a way to customize the display and pick how many to output and things. Do not change the url or the regex templates it has. This script is a modified version of an earlier scripts of mine "puh rum pum pum".

Anyways... Get the script here: Earthquakes v1.1

Also keep in mind, this script is very miminal and was created for someone who requested it via #egghelp on freenode. It is posted here so that others may enjoy it as well.

Questions? Comments? Complaints? Law suits? Feel free to post them here...

I was thinking of even having it announce a tsunami report, along with the earthquake info, as an update. Or, even if a tsunami is reported, and the earthquake isn't, it may be reported before or after, whatever the case, a feature like this to the current script would be adventageous.

Any chance this can be updated? The website has some changes and this script no longer reports as it did. It's more than a simple url correction so it's beyond my repair. tia.

Actually.. um.. it is updated (silently updated two weeks ago or so). USGS no longer offers csv updates. Instead they offer json/jsonp and more importantly atom.. YAY! So migrated the script from working with csv to atom and changed a few parsers in between and she works again.

Here is the full url again: Earthquakes v1.1

After: package require http 2.3
Add: package require tls

Before: catch { set t [::http::geturl $::news::ary(page) -timeout 30000] } error
Add: http::register https 443 [list ::tls::socket -tls1 1]

And change the http URLs to https.
