Eggdrops wont op each other...

Post by [imp] »

Hi, im running eggdrop 1.6.12 and i linked them exatly as it says on http://www.egghelp.org. They share user files perfectly and link without a problem, but no matter how hard i try i just cant get them to op each other. I have tryed getops.tcl and netbots.tcl but still no ciguar and they just join and +v each other untill the channel goes opless.

Any help on this matter on what i might need to do or what i have done wrong would be great thanks.

no wonder, they won't op themself unless you have some botnet opping script and you set it properly, it's believed to be the safest method of opping for bots but you can also make them op themself without script.
They will op themselves if they have +o flags and autoop is turned on (.chanset #channel +autoop) - NOT RECOMMENDED.
They will op themselves if you add them +ao flag (auto op) even if channel is -autoop they will autoop themself, add strict hostmasks. I recommend you using script or +ao flags.

np at all just be very careful especially if you are on network which has no services, if you host bots off public shell provider add bots hostmask like *!ident@host or even nick!ident@host for the best security :)

cheers

Hm, this may be a solution for the start, but as said before, using autoop is a security risk.
You should try to find a botnet scrip wich will suit your needs as fast as possoble. There are some lightweight botnet scripts available, not as complex as netbots. Anyway, I use the netbots script for a long time now and it's working perfect. It is far not as hard to set up as some people say, after reading the help documents here and reading the comments in the script itself, even as a beginner with eggdrops I got it working within a few hours.

netbots.tcl does not op other bots. netbots it a botnet based script, designed to allow you to manipulate other bots, from a central location.

Netbots.tcl comes with a addon component (insluded with the netbots download) called botnetops, which will do the task.

Script will not normaly work straight out of the box, and will need some form of configuration, to make them work, so you should also look at this.

Try using channel flags instead/as well as global flags.

Make sure the hostmasks match, without these eggdrop can't tell the differenac ebetween adam and eve.

Most of all, don't use AUTP-OPs. It is highly insecure. If some1 hacks your shell, they only need to use a command line client to join and get OP's. With a botnet based script, they also required to link to the bot and send a request for OP's. To link tot he bot, they need to know the botnet protocol. WHile simple to find out, they also need ot know the password for the bot.

While it doens't mean that they won't gain ops this way, it is a extra denfence, that comes highly recomended.

Hi

Heh well if someone cracks his shell, he can get ops wether he runs netbots or uses autoop since the cracker will have access to the user file =) It's a piece of cake from there!
