Errrmm, how about you read your config file properly and re-edit it instead of rushing through and setting it up as quickly as possible without checking it through.

#Lamest is the default channel in the config file settings.

i'm going to help because i really disagree with whoever's decision it was to even include that silly example in the conf file. can't they just make a README? silly...

simpl do: .chanset #lamest +inactive

and the bot will part the channel. if you want it permanently removed from your bot you will unfortuneately HAVE to edit the config and remove it manually. ifi had a dime for every minute wasted doing that...

nsignific - Did it ever occur to you that it may be there for a reason, readme or no readme. Every single setting, example and other bits'n'bobs would have been put in a readme file a long time ago, if user where to read them.

I have answered "read this", "read that", "rtfm" so many times now, it just proves a point.

Even more so, that they have to read the config file to set the bot up, but they fail to read this section and notice there is a channel being setup. So if it is there is plain english, in the file they WILL be reading, and they fail to notice it, do you think that it should be moved to a readme. This will only mean they will come here saying they can't get static channels to work. Is there and example.

ppslim: think about it for a SECOND at least. how many times does a user set up a bot FOR THE FIRST TIME?

HMM, by my reconing, by law of english language (any language actualy), that would be once.

And how many times do you think some1 will view the readmes first.

If they can't see the damned thing while goind headfirst intot he configfile, enought to disable, delete or change the information, then what chance does a readme have?

I have thought about this, I thought about this while working on my first config file. Yes I went headfirst into it without viewing readme's (another point proved). I didn't have this trouble.

The command is allmost plain english. "channel add #lamest", now if they can't spot that, what chance does a readme have. It will only become forum-me.

Try making this sugestion on the eggheads@eggheads.org mailing list, see what comes out of it then.

look i can understand what you're saying but isn't it better to have people who can't be bothered to read READMEs NOT setup a bot at all rather than having people who DO waste what accumulates to HOURS over a longer period of time deleting the damned entries? you can't really argue with this logic...

Yes I can.

It's here that they come when they can't get it to work.

Do you ever read some of the simpler posts.

Who cares - I feel 3|337, so why can't it be me

Too be honest, I do consider your post pointing at me (even if you didn't intend it). I me a be a leet eggdrop user, but I look at the broad side of things, and do not jump on a rip to shreds anything that I will never have a need to touch.

It's those that expect everything done there way, instead of guiding a person on the way they want it, that get right up my nose ((C) Listerine)
