well it doesn't give any errors now, but it doesn't respond even though the host matches the code. what seems to be the problem new ?

Well most likely your user doesn't have a username of "*". Did you mean it to be a wildcard? Because wildcards require you to use [string match *mask* text] instead of == or !=. Try the tcl manual at
www.tcl.tk for more information on the "string" command.
