Dcc problem...

Post by svartur »

When i try connecting to my eggdrop using DCC CHAT i get the following error ( which i can see in the telnet window connected to the eggdrop )
[16:03] DCC invalid port: CHAT (G`svartur!^edo@stfu.ath.cx)
What does this mean ?

This is caused by one of two things.

1: You have changed the port range used for DCC in the config file, and/or changed the client to use a port out of it's normal range.

2: Your clinet or your BNS is sending port 0 to the eggdrop. This is used for reverse DCC in firewall situation, but very few clients support it.

I changed back the portrange but now i get this:

[16:34] -G`svartur (^edo@stfu.ath.cx)- DCC Chat (192.168.1.10)
[16:34] DCC invalid port: CHAT (G`svartur!^edo@stfu.ath.cx)
[16:34] CTCP DCC: CHAT chat mÀm from G`svartur (^edo@stfu.ath.cx)

You are using a NON RFC complient identd string.

This is causing the issues.

Wasn't sure whether to resurrect this thread or start again, thought might as well keep it in the same thread then if someone else's searches because they have the same issue all the info will be together.

ppslim would you be able to give me more details.

Any possible solutions or specific areas I should look into?
dcc-portrange in the bot config is set to 1024:65535
I am using mIRC which is setup to get the WAN ip so that is going to the bot fine.

Background of my network setup.
I am trying to set up pcs on my lan to work properly with dcc. I am running a modem router connected to a wireless router which I then access from my PC. The modem is set to forward all ports to the wireless router (using DMZ) and then I have set up the appropriate port forwarding on the wireless router.

Thanks
