yet another strange problem

Post by X-File »

ok this is totally weird. now my bots will not allow my users to dcc chat them. this is the first time in a week in which the bots will not allow them to dcc chat. they have been on them many times before.

here is the error i see on the bots

-user (~noident@host.com)- DCC Chat (userIP)
Refused DCC chat (no access): user!~noident@host.com
CTCP CHAT: chat 3576596599 1268 from user (~noident@host.com)

and here is the .whois on the bots for this user

HANDLE PASS NOTES FLAGS LAST
user yes 0 op 22 Feb (@bot)
#channel0 mo never
HOSTS: *!~noident@host.com
*!~noident@host.com

again, this is the first day out of the last week that the bots will not allow this user to chat them :( any ideas?

Thank you

The host you get when it says no acces on telnet is not in the bots userfile. Add the host

They were not telneting. It was DCC chat. I think there are some bugs iwth eggy 1.6.15 where the user files get messed up, I had to remove the op in question and readd him. After I did he could get on no problem.

You couldn't have just added the host that worked.
I don't think this was a eggdrop bug

This setting will drop telnet connections not matching a known host. It greatly improves protection from IRCops, but makes it impossible to add hosts on limbo (NOIRC) bots or have NEW as a valid login.
set protect-telnet 0

This setting will make the bot ignore DCC chat requests which appear to have bogus information on the grounds that the user may have been trying to make the bot connect to somewhere that will get it into trouble, or that the user has a broken client (like mIRC tends to do), in which case the connect wouldn't work anyway. It's suggested that you turn this on.
set dcc-sanitycheck 0
