Server got stoned; going for munchies...

Post by yan »

i run 3 eggdrop bots (ver 1.6.15) and all 3 dropped connections today and wouldnt rejoin channels.

The only error/log entry was this

"Server got stoned; going for munchies..."

and it was in all 3 bots logs.

I cant find any reference that explains what/why this happened and i can only assume that its not a good thing to happen.
(the bots dropping i mean, not getting stoned and going for munchies)

I may be wrong but im assuming that this is a rather "generic" help/error message rather than a specific error.

Does anyone know why this happend or what it actually means?

Regards

What Network are your bots on?

I know with Efnet, if a server is stoned... that means the server died and the bot will jump servers to find another one.

Make sure alternative servers are available for your bots, in the conf.

My bots are all on Quakenet and I have 6 servers set.

Aswell as the remote shell running the 3 bots i also run a local nix box running a backup of 1 of the bots, again using the same confs and same servers and that bot carried on thru it all.

Whatever the problem was, it was specific to the remote box. The remote box is owned by me and has no limits on resources. It runs RedHat 9 and is an IBM Eserver with 1gig ram, 2x P3 1000 CPUs and has over 30 gig of space left on the HD.

The same box runs a 20 player cs server which ran without interuption and no system logs or program logs recorded anything other than the "Server got stoned; going for munchies..." and after i restarted the bots (touches wood) its not presented itself again.
