news script

can anyone help me out here,
I want to make a script that will connect to a webpage every so often and check to see if the news have been updated, if so replay to a channel

I expect any such script would need to be tailored to the individual webpage, and specifically, how their headlines layout is. So it depends on the webpage. In any case, maybe one of the scripts here by FireEgl will help:

to read the news,
what I wasthinking is eather write the headlines to a temp file and check againce that
or use the post dates

and is there any websites that can help me learn tcl?
