Hi on the review could we split the stats stuff up more

so we could pick what we want to be displayed

as like set each thing so we could pick what stuff we want to display

say like

<user> !review mgs
<bot> Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for PS3 (us10 them9.3 you9.5)
Release: Jun 12, 2008
ESRB: Mature
Metal Gear Solid 4 is an awe-inspiring synthesis of dramatic storytelling and entertaining gameplay. » @
<bot> http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/adventure/m ... index.html

I know we have the option to take the video part out

but would be nice to be able to have it where we could have the option to take the other stuff out or keep that other stuff there

Thanks

Awesome script i must say! been working like a treat (with the odd hiccup here and there) since i started using it a couple weeks back. Tonight tho, i got a rather strange error whilst trying to !google which i can't seem to pinpoint.

Code: Select all

[02:35] Tcl error [incith::google::public_message]: can't read "incithcharset": no such variable
Fatigue is proving my demise in troubleshooting this error. As you can see it's 2:30am! I've tried rehashing, restarting the bot but all to no avail. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated... tho, sometimes, this error pops up unexpectedly but dissapears again after a while. I've only ever noticed it pop up once before when i first loaded the script but it seemed to correct itself somehow... I'm hopeing it goes away again. :(

That was because I incorrectly assumed global variables could be attained using commas.

Code: Select all

    global incithcharset, incithcookie
That causes the error, I've since corrected it by seperating the two into individual global lines.

Code: Select all

    global incithcharset
    global incithcookie
Regetting the script will solve it. Also corrects the problem with !google whois lookups. As well added some parser fixes to !ign so it can return relevant results when redirected as well as direct results with no redirects. No version increment done, only the date within the config is changed. Hopefully it doesn't cause confusion.

Now that you mention it.

Code: Select all

<Joori> !r toe jam and earl @ gen
<@Idler> [Reviews] Sorry, game does not appear for that console when searching first page results. See for yourself @ http://www.gamespot.com/pages/search/index.php?qs=toe%20jam%20and%20earl#game
But when browsing to that url, it contradicts the bots output as the game and console searched are there. Youtube works for me and infact, always has so thats not a problem. lyricwiki.org seems to suffer long access times which forces the bot to output a connection timed out error.

Code: Select all

<Joori> !lw 2 pac hit em up
<@Idler> [Ebay] Connection has timed out
Browsing those lyrics normally, and any other lyric, eventually shows up. It just takes a long time to access the webpage when im using FF or IE. Ignore the Ebay prepend. For some reason, it likes to prepend Ebay to some of the triggers which don't have a prepend associated to them.

Stay tuned tho, i havn't fiddled with all of the triggers so i'm bound to find more that dont work for me.

There are now new behaviors for translation to simplify user input dramatically. Since google can now automatically figure out '75% of the time' the correct language, the source language is now assumed 'auto' if omitted. There is a new variable as well, (shown below) which will handle the default destination language if that is omitted as well. This makes translations much more robust and easier for everyone I think.

Code: Select all

    # set your default translation language here, this is what will be assumed
    # if the user omits the 'translate to' portion of their input.
    # en, es, it, nl, de, etc.. these are merely some examples, there are more available.
    # ------
    variable trans "en"
This means you no longer need to know what language others speak in. If you can't understand it, a simple !trans <that text> will clarify it quickly. :) (some languages google cannot translate yet, the bot will inform you when this occurs).

Also added the ability for !locate to use the chanhost of nicknames. Which now makes !locate <url/mask> or !locate <nick> both available to you. The <nick> MUST be in the channel the !locate command is issued in for this to work properly. Also corrected was that ebay prepend on your custom wiki triggers. Also corrected were a few queries which caused the script to return no replies. I forget exactly what they were, but they were needed.

Anyways, to get the new script CLICK HERE or use the link on the first page of this thread. And as always, please report any problems you encounter and have a fun ;D

NOTE: !ebay template has changed, and at the moment while you still get results some auctions may be missing some variables. Most notably, the bid amounts, time left and some other things. This will be addressed soon.

That is because those aren't really, um, hostmasks. That is a +x mode virtual host. It proves !locate <nick> works, it got the host. The problem is that virtual host created by euirc doesn't resolve of course to the host of the user. When a location of "Osaka, Osaka, Japan" is given by geobytes it usually indicates it couldn't resolve the mask back to an IP, and the result is erroneous information displayed. This is exactly how geobytes website works, it's not a direct problem of the script.

But since the script is running and has access to the ircd euirc runs. It might be possible to get the chanhost of nick. And then issue a dns request upon said host if it appears non-numeric (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx). But this might simply say the location of wherever those virtual hosts run by euirc are located, and not where the user using that virtual host actually is.

Hi I'm trying to run this script and it's a great script, but one thing... all the commands work fine except the !google command, I type it and nothing shows up. I set the .chanset and everything else comes up fine. Just not the !google, any suggestions?

I'm running on FreeBSD shell with eggdrop 1.6.18.

Thanx

whatever script I try, it just dosen't work....is there a possibility of my shell being the problem?

EVERY google script (offical & unoffical and I even tried previous versions) dosen't work but the other commands within that script ALL work....I just don't get it.

I have Tcl 8.4 installed, not sure how/if I have to run that or add something to a script somewhere....

*sigh* I've been at this two weeks already :)
