Channel names are allowed to contain just about anything except whitespace. So, i don't see a reason why eggdrop shouldn't be able to join such a channel, except that you are giving it the wrong (in eggdrop terms) name. Try sending the channel name to the bot via IRC /msg and have bot save it somewhere. Doing this, you will get the channel name the way eggdrop sees it and you can then make use of it.
Ignorant and lazy people will save 30 minutes by chosing simple config file. Smart ones will save 3000 minutes of *everyone's* time by opting for complete config file.
