think i found a bug! :D

Post by Atomic »

dont really know if this is the place to post this but .. . . .

ok so after a few days of countless re-installs changing versions ect..

BTW im using win xp pro unreal 3.2.1 windrop .16 and lakeserv 6.32!

ok so here is the report on whats going on

i thought i had an excellent idea ill register my channels using my windrop

hmmm this is where things start to go wrong......the very 1st time you register the channel the bot happily sits in there (as long as there are other chatters in there besides the bot)

but as soon as the bot leaves (for whatever reason) and re-enters the channel he gets the ~ flag doh this is where things go wrong on the party line the bot says he is in channel *** which indeed he is because he is asking for op's on the party line

when you check the channel he is there with the ~ flag you try to /msg this ~bot but irc says no such user/channel so... i .-chan *** the bot he leaves but ~bot is still in the channel until you cycle the channel.....

i notice that in .16 conf file that there is the option to use @&~ flags but this doesnt work :-? same thing still happens.....

think its todo with chanserv giving the bot the +q (founder) flag :D

is this a bug?

when i do it the otherway
i register channels then aop the bot everything works normal and its great...... btw ty for such a excellent windrop i have mine looking after
10+ channels without any problems......

but then it is a lonely bot not on a botnet and on a stand alone irc server....

If this is a bug: I think you should go to the windrop website find out their contact email addres and bug reporting email address and report this to them.

If this is regarding an eggdrop: Then you can goto www.eggheads.org and goto their bugzilla page and report them the bug you have found.

Did you set the +q thing in opchars? (>.16 setting)
dollar (or something similar) at:
#eggdrop / #tcl - undernet
#egghelp / #tcl / #eggtcl - efnet
#eggdrop.support / #tcl - quakenet
#eggdrop - ircnet

From eggdrop.conf
# Some IRC servers are using some non-standard op-like channel prefixes/modes.
# Define them here so the bot can recognize them. Just "@" should be fine for
# most networks. Un-comment the second line for some UnrealIRCds.

set opchars "@"
#set opchars "@&~"
UltimateIRCd (as an example) sets the following depending on access: (aohv)!@%+ the channel founder/sop being given !. q is a channel mode in Unreal (from memory) and Ultimate.

BTW: Are you attempting to DCC Chat to ~botnick? If so, don't! Just use the bots' proper nick. ~ indicates its' status.

Problem solved.....

Post by Atomic »

all of the above things mentioned were already correct in my conf file....

the problem was my irc client software (hydrairc) this wasnt reconising any non standard symbols in names ie ~! and the like.....

i have since gone back to another irc client and everything works fine

thank you all for the help though........

this is not a bug in eggdrop! its in somehting else :P
