already set to 6667. eggdrop can't connect after the tech added a rule to block port 6666 in iptables. It's really odd. After I added port 6666 - 6669 to the allowed ports in firewall, it was able to connect.

melange chat server is a java chat on Cpanel my server was exploited due to this. It's weird why eggdrop can't connect if port 6666 is closed.

does eggdrop require 6666 to be open to work? my host blocked that port.

They do allow ircd and eggdrops, just the tech felt that the eggdrop might've caused trojans/backdoors on the server. Those permissions are for every folder and file for eggdrop?

My friend made me an account, didn't set any limits on the number of background processes. The tech didn't see anything of that nature on the server.

I changed the conf file to save logs at midnight. Also, removed all third party scripts from the conf file and it still auto-kills itself, just left the default loaded scripts in the conf file. I checked to make sure all paths are correct.
