Just adding a bot with name and ip/hostmask isn't enough. You have to add a port for each bot too. Also don't choose ports too close together for the bots, leave 10 or 20 portnumbers betwen them. Like 3030 3060 3090 and so on.

.+bot botname ip/host:port

oops, and botattr +h make the bot a hub. You usually just need that for one bot in a small botnet.
You'll find a good description about setting up a botnet here:

Did you try linking the bots by using .link ?
Are your bots compiled with the same nick/handle length ?

There is nothing wrong with using the +h (hub) flag in a 2 bot botnet.

Only in lager botnets (3 plus bots) does one become a hub, as neither takes more botnet traffic load than the other.

The +h flag is more for auto-mation use, not tell other bots what he is (this information is not broadcast, the code does not detact who is boss and who isn;t).

Think of it like a video recorder. The .link connad it the record button. Rather than using the records button all the time, set the timer to record it for you. Means you can go out without having to worry that your bots may need re-linking.

I havn't had to connect to my shell account in 6 months no, and I only connect to my hub's partyline once a week to read notes, and tidy the ban list. I don't have to do a .link each time they die, thanks tot he _h flag.

I've got almost the same error. My leaf bot (suckit) just says Failed link to furina. My Hub bot (furina) doesn't even acknowledge the attemps to link.

I've done this in the past using the page (http://www.egghelp.org/enhance.htm) and it worked. The only change was that it was a windrop 1610 and not 1612. Does anyone know of any bugs in that release??

PS, both systems that the bots are running on are WinXPpro with the ports opened on them (DMZ).
