Can someone made this simple for me? Basic Eggdrop use

Post by datasci »

I bought an eggdrop bot for use on a Freenode's programming to help me with my work, but I've sunk a ton of time into it due to the host messing up creation of the bot and now because I'm experiencing information overload when trying to figure out how to use it.

The bot is in my Freenode channel (finally). I introduced myself to the bot and it knows that I am the master. I set a password.

All I want to do with this bot is

1. let me talk using its screen name,
2. and show me what I missed when I get disconnected.

I'm trying to figure out how to do that using the DCC command reference. I can't find the command to show me what was said while I was not in the channel.

I presume to talk as the bot I'm supposed to use ".say #Channel test"

While in the channel as the master I typed ".say #R test" and "/DCC botname #R test" but those didn't work.

Can you help me get jump started? Thanks in advance! :D

To see what was talked in any of the channesl where your eggdrop is you have to read the logs from the shell account. There is not such command to read them in DCC CHAT.

Oooo OK great. Sure, I know PuTTY.

The company (KIRE Host) who sold me the bot gave me a URL but not an IP. I'll try that and ask them if it doesn't work.

Thanks Madalin!

Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.
