How check istablished connection?

Sorry that i ask 2 much questions..
iam learning(:

so..the question..

i connect to host with the DCC commands, not the SOCKS.
like this:

set var [connect <host> <port>]

then i can send information and all that stuff..
but, how can i check if the connection sucseeded?
i mean, how can i see if the bot is connected. (Somthing like $sockerr in scripting)
