dcc chat prob

Post by Nexus6 »

Chat with Libre
Waiting for acknowledgement...
[17:28] -Libre (euphoria@blah.eu.org)- Failed to connect (Unforseen error 24)
it's quite weird error and I have no clue what can cause that, any ideas?
I've been running this bot for over 2 years without probs and sometimes it does that.

it stays connected with server even for a few days, and it's not lagged.
-> [ctcp(Libre)] PING
*** CTCP PING reply from Libre: 1.437 seconds
Something is really messed up, my masks are added and if it stays connected for a day or so when I try to dcc chat with it it ignores me and when I try /ctcp bot chat it dies!.
-> [ctcp(Libre)] CHAT
[13:37] *** Quits: Libre (euphoria@blah.eu.org): Remote closed the connection

Guess adding my-ip and my-hostname will help. Sorry for bothering.

Beyond that, the "/ctcp ping" command, is not a true reflection of lagg.

This will tell you the round trip time, when a message is sent via a server.

DCC is a direct connection with the bot, thus, the connection is not routed through the IRC servers (though the commands to initialise it are).

The IRC server you are on, may route your messages between you and your bot, quicker, than a connection made directly from you to the bot.

When doing pings. A "/ctcp ping" should not be the ping used. You should ping the persons machine as well. This will tell you if it is the irc servers, or your connection that is lagged (if at all).
