Is it possible? Did I actually bring up a good point?

Miracles really do happen everyday. I'm guessing you haven't had the time to have a botnet in a real traffic channel. But it would be a good idea to find one. Or perhaps borrow someone elses and tinker. All you have to do is find someone who trusts you enough to mess with their net while it's being used in a "real-life" setting. Hrrrmmm, where could you find such a person? *looks around the room*

I'm afraid I have no interest in using other peoples' botnets on other peoples' channels for developing netbots.tcl. Someone who writes scripts purely for the love of it may do this. But as I mentioned before, I am a practical type of scripter, and motivated primarily by my own real-world requirements when I ran a botnet and helped maintain a number of channels.

I lost much of my interest in maintaining IRC channels and botnets some time ago, so I'm not nearly as prolific in writing scripts or helping people as I once was. I am commited to maintaining egghelp.org and keeping it up to date, but netbots.tcl is another matter. I wouldn't like the work I did on it (sentinel.tcl in particular) last holiday season to go to waste, but for the past year it has been a matter of when I get the time and motivation to finish it up and refine it for release, and that remains the case today.

I'm sorry to hear that you've lost most of your motivation to keep depeloping netbots. It remains one of, if not the, most developed botpacks publicly avaibable. I would hope to see it continued to be developed for, admittedly, purely selfish reasons. As it's usefullness has been proven on many occassions I will continue to use it until i'm forced to use another botpack, whether by necessity or improved performance. As I do maintain a botnet in a few channels I find it quite necessary that it's as functionally sound as possible at all times. So far your botpack has been the best at achieving this and I hope it continues to be so.

Unless you are a scripter, you wouldn't understand the reasoning behind it. On top, when it's a larger ongoing project, it's different again.

It's not that he isn't motivated, it's more that the time required to intergrate certain features, is not the sort of thing, you can do in small blocks, where you can go back and do more.

When it comes to direct testing on other peoples bots, it's simply usless. You have to abide by shell rules, you didn't pick (which you are most likely breaking by sharing it), you are using information that ins't yours, nothing is confidential.

It isn't related motivations, it's more circumstances.

I know time is always a problem when it comes to coding. And as the botpack progresses I'm sure it just takes more and more of it to get it further. Obviously the more complicated the coding, the longer it will take. I have friends that code, I know how much time they have to dedicate to their work and I can certainly understand when someone just doesn't have that kind of time.
