Telnet problems

Post by digitaldj »

my eggdrop seems to ignore everything. i mean, i cant telnet too it from any host. when i had a look in the .user file, i can see that ignores the main host (the one it's running on) but nothing else.. when i try to telnet to it from some other host it just closes the connection right away, so my other eggdrops isn't able to link it either. any ides what might be wrong/how i can fix it? thanks

not sure what you mean - eggdrop doesnt ignore any host.

Remember that you have to have to -telnet@* host added before you can telnet - other than that search this site, as this question has been dealt with many many times. Its probably you not setting my-ip or nat-ip. Other than that, firewalling.

hmm. yea, it ignores -telnet@the-bot-host-name, and i dont think its my-ip etc. it all worked a few days ago, and then it suddenly stoped without me had touched it for like a day, and no firewall :D

you sure you arent running ipchains or iptables or anything? (I'm presuming you're running eggdrop on linux) - I had exactly the same problem with crontab adding iptables rules - absolutely no idea why though.

First off, kill the bot.

Second, edit the userfile (take a backup first), and remove any ignores.

Third, re-start the bot, and see if you can connect.

hmm. yea, im sure i dont run any type of firewall, and it's a freebsd server. anyways, i tried what you said ppslim, didnt help. might be something else.. like a strang prog stopping it (not firewall again :D). But whats strange is that it just happend two-three days ago, always worked before that, and i dont think i have installed anything since then. it's the eggdrop version that has a patch for ipv6 btw. (yes, its a ipv6 eggdrop ;)
