Greetwonder script

Post by Fluxism »

Hi all,

I have tried to use the greetwonder.tcl script with my egg, but it wont load stating it is an incompatible egg version.
(Bot) [07:37] -----------
(Bot) [07:37] GreetWondeR 1.8.2 - UNSUPPORTED EGGDROP: 1.6.x (1.6.13)
(Bot) [07:37] This greet script works only on 1.x (1.1/2/3/4)
(Bot) [07:37] See 'readme.txt' for more information on this problem.
(Bot) [07:37] GreetWondeR 1.8.2 - NOT LOADED
(Bot) [07:37] -----------
Can anyone tell me how I can remove this egg version check feature (would it be advisable to do this anyway?). My bot sits on a few different channels, and I need different greets for all users via notice on each channel, this script is the only one I can find which will allow this :-?

Thanks in advance to all

Greetz,

The readme file states what versions it runs on. Aditionaly, it states, "and the new 1.4.x".

This implies that it was designed while 1.6 wasn't stable.

There has been major changes between 1.4 and 1.6. As such, it may well be that nothing needs changing at all, but at the same time, it may need a major overhaul.

I have looked over the file, and it seems that only 4 changes where needs (3 code, 1 cosmetic)

download this version from http://www.ppslim.ukshells.co.uk/prov/e ... r.test.tcl - If this works for you, I will submit this as a fix.

ppslim,

First up I want to thank you personally, many times in the past I have come to these forums with egg related troubles, and you (and / or other senior members of egghelp.org) Have sorted things for me. You all do a great job, and I for one certainly appreciate all the time and effort you put into helping others. Way to go.

Now, as for the script you edited, it is working fine so far  Maybe it is early days yet to say if it is a 100% success, but all seems ok. Well done. I will post to this thread if the egg crashes in the coming weeks.

/me slaps another gold star on ppslims forehead (god dam, they're four deep now....)

LOL - I'm starting to look like Vivian from Young Ones (old british comedy).

When looking through, only commands like "matchattr" have changed, and it only provided a work around for the 1.1 versions.

ANy other changes are likely related to binds, of which, the binds didn't show any signs of requiring a change.

Just as way of closing this thread, the greetwonder script has performed flawlessly with the modification you made ppslim (on 1.6.13 anyway).

It should be added to the archive
