Hi,

After using a firewall proxy connection, I'm unable to /dcc chat my bot. It will not reply and it says Invalid port.

I'm only able to /ctcp bot chat to get into my bot partyline.

Any ideas to enable me to /dcc chat my bot?

Thanks

I'm assuming your using mIRC. The guys on #mirc on irc.dal.net can help you with it.

galaxyboy - does your cleint allow you to DCC chat any1 else throught he firewall. If not, then it's an issue with your client and proxy.

If it does connect to other people, then you should check your eggdrops logs to find out what error it sees.

didjital, as for just passing the person on to others, they are likely to just shift him back to us, as they do not deal with eggdrop.

Erm, yes, my mIRC client is able to /dcc chat with other users and vice-versa. It is also able to /dcc send.

Here's the Error:
When i /dcc chat bot
It shows in the partyline: DCC invalid port: CHAT (GalaxyBoy!galaxy@myhost.com)

Have you changed the port range values in either eggdrops config file or mircs DCC setup.

This could be the cause of this.

Try /ctcp <bot> CHAT

I've set the ports for my mIRC client to match the port I'm using for my firewall.

As for setting the ports in the eggdrop.conf file, I'm not sure which line should I set and how should I set it

Hopefully, someone can guide me along with some examples

Thanks

I have no idea what you're all on about. His proxy obviously doesn't relay to the bot. Which isn't a problem at all because you can obviously make the bot dcc chat you via ctcp, because the proxy does allow to connect, which is made apparent by the fact that the bot is connected to the server...

nsignific, you obviously do not know how the DCC initiation sequence works, do you. If you did, comments in your previous posts would nbot have been made.

If I where to type "/dcc chat nsignific" in my cleint, my client would open a local port, and send you a ctcp message notifying you of my IP and port. Your client would them make the connection to my computer.

So if you computer is the one running eggdrop, and it is able to connect to a server, why can't it connect to my computer (given as example by the problem above).

It is true, eggdrop is able to connect to the IRC server, but it is faulse that there are no problems, because the bot is unable to make that network connection.

As for the problem itself. There are many guides on the internet to setting up a network with mirc, and being able to DCC send, chat and receive files. You will have to find one of these and follow it's instructions, as this problem is firewall & cleint related, not eggdrop.

then how do you explain the bot connecting when you do /ctcp bot chat, which is apparently only an alias for /dcc chat bot? boggles the mind, eh.

no it isnt. /dcc bot chat makes you the passive party (ie, you open the port for the bot to connect to), /ctcp bot chat makes the bot open the port for you to connect to.

Ok, relax guys

It's not much problem. I'll find some articles and read up.

Anyway, thanks for all the suggestion and information:)
