currently, one of my TCLs uses sockets to get files from a site. ive seen how u can use that http::geturl (or something) to do the same, i think. pretty much i would just like to know if one method is better than the other, or wat r the advantages of the http one. thanks.

The http package uses sockets, but provides a simple to use scripting interface.
While the socket approach is the same, it can be tailored to your needs, and usualy involves a lot more work.
It all depends on your needs, file sizes and a few other bits, as to which one is best, however, it would be wise to start out with the package, and learn how it functions.
i use the socket approach, but since i had seen quite a few topics with the http thing, i kinda wondered if there was any difference at all as i did notice that it indeed did seem simpler, though kinda lacked a few things.
