Time out

Post by ppslim »

I just thought I would make everyone aware, I am taking time out from the egghelp.org forums.

I know I still have a lot to offer people, but I have discovered new things within the past year, and work commitments just don't leave me with time.

I currently administrate a Training Clan for MOH:AA, and run the associated server. This, while not too hard, takes a little time.

I am now a moderator for my ISP, which also takes my time.

While I still love eggdrop, and I am hoping (today or this week), to get a little more involved in the development, reporting time and time again, on the same few topics has trailed me off a little.

I will still be around, and I do hope to visit weekly, and possibly comment on the odd thing, but only those that catch my eye.

Thanks for all the hard work you put me through, and the countless hours fun you have given me (and the money saved from NOT going the pub).

Hey ppslim, that's great that you're thinking about getting more involved in development. You're right about the topics repeating so much heh. I've started ignoring more of those. Luckily there are always new helpers who aren't tired of them yet hehe.

Good luck with your other ventures and drop in from time to time!

As noted, I will be in, but be very selective in what I read and post.

It's not that it gives me more free time, but that I aint worried about missing scheduals.

This is the first time on the forum since I arrived home from work (6 hours ago), and I am yet to stop. So if it goes that far, I obviously have very little time.

I will never lose my love for eggdrop, as I knwo it is the only ever true thing that I have stuck at, and couldn't quit it now.

The first time my name was in the updates file, it was a rush, and since then it has been in there 6 other times. Knowing I contributed even this much, makes me appreciate it.

Development for me now, is to continue helping in smaller ways, and contributing my feelings and ideas, on the 1.7 tree. So far, I know I have given some input, of which, I don't know the status, however, it was asked for personaly.

For some reason, I can now be found on #egghelp on EFnet, where I pretty much idle, and watch the same stuff go by in realtime.

Egghelp.org has made me pretty famous on IRC, and for all the right reasons (makes a change). While I am involved in a mIRC help channel, you do get the occasional "You from egghelp.org aint you?", then when you troll around some fo the linux, perl, php, mysql channels, you get the same.

Good luck to all, and I will allways be around.

There are many forums out there who have their prolific contributors, but few are lucky enough to have a ppslim wander in one day and spend the next two to three years giving much more than they receive. You have single-handedly lifted this forum to a higher level, and regardless of whether any individual is capable of stepping into the huge pair of shoes you have left to be filled, your example will no doubt inspire and motivate others.

You've indicated you're not disappearing completely, but I think now is a good time to recognise your contribution once again with a small gift, even if it comes nowhere near repaying the debt you are owed. Unless you indicate a preference for something else (of the non-alcoholic variety :D), the familiar BlackStar gift certificate should appear on your inbox sometime in the next few days.

While we're on the topic if prolific contributors, I've promoted caesar and stdragon to moderators, allowing them to manipulate the forum however they wish
