A couple of shells went down on my botnet. Before this happened my bots were linking fine. However, the ones which were running on the shells which went down will no longer link - with the same settings as they were before they went down and I've tried changing the ports on the leaf bots and hub bots as well as the hosts - but to no avail. It's starting to drive me insane cos I can't work out what's wrong!! Any help will be much appreciated!
If you have vhosts on the bots and the shells go down you can sometime have them rejoin with the IP as a host instead of your usual vhost, if you haven't added that IP as a host on the "user info" for the bot they wount link.
A simple test should reveal the problem. From a unlinked bot try yourself to telnet to the hub's ip and port and see if you can. If you can't then review the telnet hosts, see if the server the leaf's don't have a firewall or somehting like this, also, check on the hub.
Ps: A telnet host should look like: HOSTS: -telnet!*@some-ip .. are you shure you have this type of hosts in the hub for the leafs? Also, have you checked if the hub's adress is the correct one?

What are you guys talking about? What telnet host? Bot's don't have user's telnet hosts (-telnet!*@*)! They just have an IP and a port where they are supposed to link, and an irc host by which they can recognise themselves if needed.
Also, wouldn't it be easier if you just asked for logs? So EdTheDuck paste some logs both from leaf's and hub's side. Make sure you have the 'b' console flag.
Well, when protect-telnet is set to 1 he will drop any unknown telnet connections to it. So If the leafs don't have a telnet host to it then no telnet.. no telnet.. no link.
