cannot telnet to my eggie

Post by z_one »

Hi,

Everytime I use putty to telnet to my Eggie I get the following msg
"Network Error: Connection Refused."

I already have --HOSTS -telnet!*@* in my .user file.
Any idea how to solve this ?

Thanks.

Are you sure that you got the right port? or that the port that you specified wasn't already in use?

Yes, I'm sure that the port is the one specified in the .conf file.
Actually, this is what puzzles me :-?

Nope, it is not.
2 days ago, everything was just fine and I was able to normally connect to it. Dunno what happened since. I haven't even touched the .conf file.

kill the thing, start it with -n and see what happens when you try to telnet in.

What's the point on having the "protect-telnet" set to 1 when you allow to all people to telnet in? I guess you have it set to 1, no?

Nope, I don't even have the variable "protect-telnet" mentioned in my .conf file.

Then are you or the eggdrop behind a NAT firewall?

Yes I think I am.

I am connecting from my work place. So I am not sure about the firewall (all I know is that everything was working fine a few days ago). Then, all of a sudden, I started getting the message "Connection Refused".

When I connect to the Eggie from home ... it works fine.

Then you have a NAT firewall problem. Consult the forum's Search button and talk with the administrator of the router/server (or whatever you got there) about the this.
