Rehash Problem

Post by DeadGuy »

It seems that the new version of eggdrop can't really do rehash. I need to restart my bot in order for the old tcl, that I've removed from the shell server and bot's config file, to stop working.

Isit a bug or isit just me?

I've tried in on 2 different shell server and the problem is the same.

rehashing doesn't get rid of old tcl scripts. a .restart will however, since this restarts the Tcl interp.

Then what's the usage of the .rehash in this case?
Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.

'rehash' read new scripts, so you can add and execute new scripts without taking the bot off the IRC network completely. Also, if a script is modified, aved, and bot rehashed, the modified script will execute with as the NEW script. Hence, a rehash makes it a LOT easier for a script-developer to test new parts/modifications on a bot without making it re-establish the IRC network connection constantly, probably banning it from a network due to join-flooding!

Neat, eh? :)
