DDOS is a very serious problem, and there is very little that can done about it.

As a bot owner, you have even less power to control it.

A DDOS is a flood made by hundreds, possible thousands, of machines.

The traffic that this creates uses all the available bandwidth to a device. This reaults in the inability to receive data from legitimate sources.

To stop it, it has to be blocked either at the source level, or via blocks at the ISP.

The ISP may also be affected by the problem, and thus they in turn have to ask there provider to block.

This is a lengthy process, and as you can see, totaly out of your control.

An solution for not getting flooded is to use an usermode that the network you sit on may have to hide your real host giving you a fake one, if any ofcource.
Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.

Hi,

As ppslim said earlier "To stop it, it has to be blocked either at the source level, or via blocks at the ISP, it is totally out of your control".

And even more than that, if any of your shell provider or isp finds out that you're the one causing them to be DoS`ed .... they will terminate your account without any warning or refund (policies regarding DoS are very strict).

I suggest trying to talk to the person DoS`ing you and trying to get to a compromise (asking why he/she is doing it and getting to an agreement if you think that is possible). Otherwise he might still do that until one of the following outcomes happens:

1- Your isp or provider takes action and blocks the DoS`ing ips.
2- Your provider terminates your account.
3- You loose your channel.

Good luck, you will need it. Just remember to be cool (when you can) because it will save you a lot of trouble in many occasions.

That makes you as bad as him for sugesting it as any sugestion.

Traceing the user is even harder.

A DDOS is the process of controling hundreds of drones to attack a target.

They don't usualy use there own connection to add to the traffic.

You cannot stop a ddos attack, face it.

I do have suggestions on how to reduce the risk of getting hit.

1. do not piss of a packet kiddie
2. if it is a nickname war, use another nick
3. keep channels +sp
4. don`t even talk to the kiddie, simply ignore him
they only do it for attention

if you know the nickname involved in ddos`n, let an admin know about it
they might look into it.
