Ok so my IRC server support SSL ecrypted connections and i am able to sucessfully link servers via SSL and connect clients via SSL.
I patched and compiled 1.6.15 with the SSL patch and when i connect in see nothing in the partyline but the following as an ircop with connection monitoring on.
I could leave my home's doors unlocked. It would be easier to get in and out that way. No fumbling for keys and such. But i find that the fumbling of keys to be a trivial inconvenience.
The same with IRC. It's quite easy nowadays for servers to support SSL secured connections and there are numerous clients for all common OSes that support SSL Connections.
Would you want your mother to read what you say in IRC at any time?
Anyway, SSL gives me a warm fuzzy feeling with regards to security so i'd rather use it than not. Apparently with all the security mindedness everybody here pays to their channels they don't feel the need to protect anything between the endpoints.
