Botnet gone mad!

Post by TermyBurger »

2 problems...
1)
okay, so the past week or so i've been building up a botnet, and some idiot decides it would be fun to clone-flood my channel.
I think to myself, Great! my bots are gonna have something to do....

So, i set the ban, (the flood clones where all named with a FEL prefix, so i just set the ban for FEL*!*@* on bot1)

Bot1 bot2 bot3 all receve the ban properly over the botnet, and it is registered as a global ban on all of the bots. But, when bot1 starts to kick them, bot2 and bot3 think bot1 is kick-flooding so they kick him, and then bot1 and bot3 think bot2 is kickflooding, etc

all my bots are set with +f - so i am unsure why they would be banning eachother for floods, i thought +f made them immune to flood detections...

2)
A user was added to the Network Services as an op in the channel.
A few days later, he is removed from the services op list.
Chanserv tries to deop him, but bot1 says 'lets re-op him!'
chanserv says 'no no! deop! DEOP!'
bot1 disagrees, and smites chanserv by re-opping the user...
it goes on and on ;(

the user is set with the +f flag, but how do i stop this while keeping the +f flag on :(

all the bots in my botnet are using these settings for all the channels they are in:

Code: Select all

revenge-mode: 0
ban-time: 240
exempt-time: 60
invite-time: 60
Other modes:
     -inactive +statuslog -secret +shared
     -greet -seen +cycle +dontkickops
     +protectops +protectfriends -revenge -revengebot
     -bitch +autoop +autovoice -nodesynch
     -enforcebans +dynamicbans +userbans -autohalfop
     -protecthalfops
     +dynamicexempts +userexempts +dynamicinvites +userinvites

its on irc.GamesNET.net

but chanserv was doing what it was supposed to do, it was just deopping a user that wasent on its user list anymore.
my bot kept re-opping him, even tho the user only had +fhp flags

i just set -protectops and -protectfriends, gonna try for it again...

But about question1, why would my bots attack eachother? is there a way to make the bots immune from eachother?

protectfriends reop a +f user who gets deoped
protectops reop a +o user who gets deoped

There's no secret to the reop question, try .help chaninfo

As for bots kicking other bots, make sure all bots are added to one another with the correct hostmaks, and the same goes for ChanServ, it should be added +fo, making sure all passwords are set.
.chanset +nodesynch allow non-ops to perform channel modes? (stops bot from fighting with services such as ChanServ)

thx :) that looks like it fixed all those problems now :D

but i found a new problem :o

[12:00:36] Now talking in #channel
[12:00:37] *** ChanServ sets mode: +o TermyBurger
[12:00:39] *** bot3 sets mode: +smir
[12:00:43] <@TermyBurger> why on earth does it do that :/
[12:00:58] *** TermyBurger sets mode: -smir

He sets +smir every time i join the channel, now...
all my bots are basicaly using the same config, just changed the folders/output files/etc
I dont understand why bot3 is doing this and none of the other bots are :(

Other than what has been suggested already, no clue. As for the channel settings, i see +autoop, which is a bad idea to begin with (tell me what is your hostmask and your channel name, and I'll show you why) Is your bot is setting mode +smir whenever anyone joins the channel, or just you. Got any fancypants tcl's running that might have gone haywire? Have you sat in dcc chat with the bot, with your console set to +d? This is debug mode, if there is an error, here's where you will see it.

he only sets it when i join...

and, autoop is enabled, but im the only one on his autoop list, and i use the gamesnet +x to change my hostmask (wich is used by my eggy) so i figured, the only way anyone is getting autooped is if they auth to my gamesnet authserv account

modules? Megahal is loaded on one of the bots. Thats it.
scripts? Theres a quote script on one, and they all have a 'auth' script, that just auths them to network services

Some people know a whole lot more than I, and maybe they can solve your problem with a magic wand  What would be helpful is if you follow through

.console #yourchannel +mkobcxsd

Join the room.
