Timeout/EOF ident connection

I get this when i link 2 bots, how can i fix it.

I get this on one:
[00:06] (citsym): [07:07] Linking to cynyster at 162.40.5.203:5555 ...
[00:06] (citsym): [07:08] Received challenge from cynyster... sending response ...

And this on the other:
Telnet connection: 216.191.248.231/1551
[00:06] (Cynyster): [06:10] Timeout/EOF ident connection
[00:06] (Cynyster): [06:10] Challenging Citsym...

They disconnect and wont connect to each other.

I had the same problem some time ago.
Are you sure your bots are compiled with the same max nicklength/handlelength?
Correcting that in the eggdrop.h and recompiling the bot fixed it for me.

Myself was facing this problem when upgrade old eggy to version 1.6.7 . But the problem was fixed when i try increase the 'timeout' value on config file. Thus, my bots linked well.

As stated. You may note the erro "Timeout", thus you should increase them in the config file.

Why would it challange after its times out?

No, note the message it gives "Timeout/EOF ident connection". This is when it is trying to determine the ident of the connection. A seperate connection alltogether fromt he link connection.

Maybe I should have asked the other question too.

Are there any other lines of log output, after the channelnge message.
