Ok i followed all the steps for linking bots that egghelp has. When my bots try to link i get:
<|Creapy|> [02:10] Password required for connection to |shadows|.
<|Creapy|> [02:10] Bad password on connect attempt to |shadows|.
<|Creapy|> [02:10] Lost Bot: |shadows|
I get that for all 3 of my bots
so i how do i set a password for the bot?

You don't need to set a password.
In each bot, ".chpass <botname>", where botname is the handle of each other bot.
When you link now, they will set there own passwords.

According t the output, |shadows| is asking |tyreal| for an existing password on connect.
This means that you have either not done ".chapass |shaddows|" in |tyreal|, or you are doing it ont he wrong bot.

No this is a bug... it does it with me to, the only option is to actually set a password on both bots.
I also get this error if anyone can help
[23:07] (citsym): [06:08] Telnet connection: *.net/17423
[23:07] (citsym): [06:08] Timeout/EOF ident connection
[23:07] (citsym): [06:08] Challenging Cynyster...
my bot is cutting them off before it can ident, on the other bot it says
[23:07] (Cynyster): [05:10] Linking to Citsym at 216.191.*.*:3510 ...
[23:07] (Cynyster): [05:10] Received challenge from Citsym... sending response ...
anyone got any ideas, there are no firewalls on either system

There is usualy a message after "23:07] (citsym): [06:08] Challenging Cynyster..." stating exactly why is was cutoff.
If this is also a timeout, try ins=creasing the timeout value. Is that so hard to see.

I have increased it to 1 minute, it makes no difference, there is no output after that, they just disconnect.

hm, and once again, I had exactly this, that they stuck at challenging, when 1 bot was compiled with a different Nicklength.

I'll try to fix it, but I need shell access to one of these bots that is doing it so I can add some debugging code, etc ... since no one on eggdev has ever been able to reproduce this problem.
So if someone can provide me with this, e-mail me at
guppy@techmonkeys.org until then, not much I can do.
