Possible Cause Of Eggdrop Lagging

Post by blood_x »

Recently, I wonder why my eggdrop is lagging all the time. Almost when I ping it, reply time will be around 6-10 min(s) and sometimes up to 15 min(s) above. I've contacted my shell provider, and they say my eggdrop is using too many CPU resources and there's no DoS attack on my hostname. They advice me to reinstall the eggdrop and decreased using too many TCL scripts.

Here, I would like to know what is the possible causes that can make an eggdrop lagging even in partyline chat. Let say, when I do .op mynick in partyline, there's no response in long minute(s), but when I ping, eggdrop get it but do not response immediately. Before this, I also used TCL scripts that I've loaded before, there's no problem. That's why I'm wondering and cannot sleep at night thinking of it.. Aha..
Thank you for your support and commitments.

Huh, ping-reply 6-10 mins? I think this is impossible, because servers have set ping-timeout on 2 mins

peharps the eggdrop isn't lagging, but seems to...
If you have scripts using a lot of ressources, as using a pubm on a big channel, the eggdrop is parsing a lot of lines.
So, when you ping him (using a /ctcp eggdrop ping), it must treat all the lines it saw before you send the ctcp and then reply...
is it clear?

well, it doesn't really depend of the number of pub and pubm you bind, but how you treat them...
I'd used KALICH, it slows my egg awfully with only 1 pubm
