1.6.16 has way less bugs.

For one, IPv6 has been removed, that removes most of the issues.

There has also been a lot of work on other apparent issues that seem to have cropped up whilst 1.6.15 was out.

There is an aim for march 1st with 1.6.16. However, I have seen that slip constantly over the past 3 months.

Saying that, people have stopped commiting large patches and I understand only a few doc fixes are left.

I believe the march 1st date is for release candidate 1, not final.
After the debocles with the last few releases, you can be sure they are going to take their time releasing .16 ..

Ah yes, rc1.

I hadn't spotted that, though I had only had a quick glance at the mail.

I doubt as much testing is being done as you think heh. From the last few patches I did, I only heard feedback from 1 person. We really need more people to actively test, not just run the bot and say ok well it compiles, it runs, must be fine!

i'd love to help, but i dont know any C (the only thing i managed so far was to get the bot to call a proc called "errorinfo" as soon as a TCL error ocours) and the CVS system, so i dont think i could be of any help.

I actually came across 1.7 while I was searching across the net, but it was beta.
I haven't tried it only because of the fact that it's beta.

You don't need to know C.

Just use the CVS version of the code. It can be found in the snapots directory on ftp://ftp.eggheads.org/

As for 1.7, it isn't even beta, but that too needs people to test. Though for usfulness, forget it.

is there a way of upgrading the bot to 1.6.16 without having to reboot or shut her down?
