No Dcc Chat on irc

Post by mindgarden »

In my eggdrop.conf file when i set "set stealth-telnets 1" I am not able to "/ctcp bot chat" but when i set set "stealth-telnets 0" I am able to "/ctcp bot chat" from within irc. I can always use SSH to connect with Putty but I would like to be able to keep "set stealth-telnets 1" and be able to dcc from within irc. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem may be. Thanks for your help.

The thing that may cause you problems is protect-telnet wich will allow only people with telnet masks added to theyr users to telnet in.. The stealth-telnets will just show it's nickname at login instead of all the stuff a normal eggdrop will tell. Read the coments about the stealth-telnets in the .conf file. My guess is that you might have a tight telnet-flood settings or something like this.. Get on dcc chat/telnet with it and set in the .conf file that stealth-telnets to 1 and rehash then "/ctcp botnick chat" and see what happens when you try that.

My telnet-flood setting is telnet-flood 5:60.
Stealth-telnets is set to 1.

The only difference is when i switch back and forth between settings on Stealth-telnets. When this is set to 0 I can connect to eggdrop thru mirc without problems. When Stealth-telnet is set to 1 it Introduces itself as Nickname but when i try to type a command it says "You don't have access".

The only difference between being able to successfully dccchat thru mirc and not being able to dccchat is the stealth telnet setting being at 1 or 0.

I know this may sound strange to some but this is exactly what is happening. Its just a convienience thing so If I have to telnet to dccchat I will. I just thought maybe someone else ran into the same problem before. Thanks again.

Check if you have the correct irc host in bot's userlist..

Hey peeps,

I also have somewhat the same problem with the following exceptions:

1. If I'm on a PC at home that's on the same subnet as the bot, I can DCC chat and log into the bot and do all command functions w/0 a problem.

2. My DSL goes through a LinkSys wireless router. The bot is on one fo the wired ethernet ports. I cannot DCC to the bot using a laptop through the 802.11b wifi link. I can telnet to the bot on the port I have chosen for telnet (telnet hosts are configured and confirmed) an also have all comand functions.

3. From outside (at work) coming in through the router, again I cannot DCC chat that bot, although I can telnet to the WAN IP address and passthrough to the bot, log in and access all command functions.

The router's DMZ is set to the bot's IP address so it should have unfettered access in or out of the DSL link. The bot shows a CTCP DCC: Chat session request but immediately after seeing that, it reports "Lost DCC connection to <irc_nick> <hostmask>" and gives no other info.

In the config file, I have "set protect-telnet 0", "set open-telnets 0" and "set stealth-telnets 0". User host masks for all affected machines have been checked including any wildcards.

In all cases I am using mIRC as the client. the bot is on a Linux box. Has anyone else seen this kind of problem and have an idea what's blocking the DCC from everything except a PC on the same subnet?

Soo... nobody has seen this problem? I have used the forum search and checked out all threads dealing with DCC logins, and still have no solution.
