Hi,

regardless of what telnet / listen port i try and assign, eggdrop bombs out saying its failed to grap local port xxx

How can i find out what ports are available for eggdrop use?

I guess Eggdrop is behind router and he can't bind port on your public address.Try to put your private ip in set my-ip field (this goes if you run bot at home).If you don't run bot at home, then conntact your shell provider to open port for your bot.

Thanks for your reply.

This is running at home on a Debian box and it has a static ip so i guess i need to know how to open a port for eggdrop to use, can you help me please?

Ok, this is all working now, think it must have been linked to me not setting the hostname correctly.
