OK, so I am now ready to purchase my shell/ftp account and run my eggdrop...

only thing is that I need help on the shell provider.

Anybody have some suggestions, meaning the BEST provider money can buy (money meaning $10 or under a month)

Well it's sensitive for a few reasons, first... it might be a shell provider recomending you his own shell.
Secondly it would be advertising...

However as a ordinary user of this forum and customer of many different shellcompanies i would say that the one i am most pleased with at the moment would be Outlandz. The reason for this is ok uptime, reasonable prices and imagine this, they have a working IRC channel on EFnet, and there are actually admins around! Denny would be the owner that you should look for if you should decide to hook up.

Other good providers are of cause Risignet, but they might be out of your price range. Donno the admins there.

I've been with Kirenet for many years and they used to be good, but latley it seems impossible to get in contact with admins, however the servers are usually up. Erik would be the guy you want here...

OK, so at this point, I've "checked out" about 20 shell providers...

and I've narrowed it down to Kirenet and Lomag.

Any final opinions on the two?

Both are elite.

Established since 1998. (First shell I ever used, was of them in 99 I rem)

Lomag has uptimes 500+ one on of his boxes, and the rest exceed 300+ days very stable indeed. Lomag is also an old company. They have quite alot of new machines now as well.

These two companies also have the best vhosts you can find anywhere.
They are the most priciest but the best uptill now.

I used lomag in the start of this year around for 6 months, now I'm using kirenet for the 3rd time in the past 2-3 years.

With all that being very evident that either the admin doesnt know how to set the time on the machines, or doesnt care either way, you get a looser, and you get to pay twice as much as you should. I bet he doesnt host many time sensitive processes.

Not to mention the up and down lately, stuff has been very unreliable.
Also note kire also owns its own review site, how cute. Giving itself high notched reviews and comments such as:

My experience with KIRE's Linux genius has definitely left an impression.
I would recommend KIREnet to anybody seeking to learn or utilize Linux
on an advanced level. Their customer service is outstanding and everything
I have reviewed was completely user-friendly with the customer in mind.

How freekin nutty do you have to be? Do you work for one of these providers you listed? From what I was told I think I knew from a former friend of mine (who I dont communicate at all with any more) he ordered IRCd hosting at jeah and paid up front for 6 months or better, running an ircd with 4 people (family members) jeah said he used 300 gig of bandwidth /month and his 6 month payment turns into 2 at best ! Oh and according to him jeah did not provide him with access to any type of mrtg or anything like that so he could monitor his traffic. Or at least make sure hes not completely full of crap, and stealing money.

I completely dont understand why people over look certain things, and blindly pay twice the amount of money for a service just because some meat puppet says so, or because the service has been around a long time.

Out of that list you provided Lomag and Unix rules are the only ones that I think are decent, the rest are either shady, have immoral practices, like creating their own review sites, charging for bandwidth over usage without providing a scale to monitor -mrtg at minimum.

read the post in its entire. Also if the clock isnt set properly through rdate etc... on some processes things will crash, not link or just not function properly in other ways etc....

I noticed from your rather large number of posts, that you should know this to be true.
