Linksys Router, ping outs w/ eggdrop 1.6.17

Post by Eagle »

I have had no problems w/ eggdrop until i updated the firmware on my linksys, it now has a nat firewall. It was pinging out every 5 minutes. i have tried adding anti idle script, this helped some, and have it connecting to a reliable server, nl.chatjunkies.org. anyone have any ideas?
Thank you

hey there. im def. no eggsdrop eggspert but i rkn its a simple adding some ports to your nat config on yoru router.

I dont know if you need to open any extra ports. but open up the 667-6669 ports will get you going to start.
You should be able to do this from the web-interface of the modem (if you can upgrade firmware you should be able to update nat entries)

Or. you could disable the firewall.. if you didnt have problem before which needed a firewall then you wont need it now.

i could try that, but didn't need the open ports b4. also if i disable the nat part of it, which according to the rounter i should be able to do, i loose all inet connections. :o actually this is prob not the forum i should be on, prob should be on linksys's, i have no prob w/ anything else w/ the router thou.

if you have NAT and your eggdrop is on machine behind the NAT router, you need to set two things in bot's config file: nat-ip to your router's external IP, and reserved-portrange to the range of port(s) you have opened and forwarded through NAT for bot purposes

the above is a prerequisite for sharing userfiles and/or DCC file transfers

if you simply need outside bots to be able to connect to your bot located behind the NAT router, the only thing you need to do is forward (and open, if neccessary) eggdrop's botport

TY but i solved the problem, got out my old linksys and updated the firmware on it, it has no nat routing. it works for pinging out but now it won't accept privmsgs from anyone but me. but that's prob a setting in the conf, i can play with the settings to find that. TY again. :D
