There are several posibilities.
One is that the server your bot was on shut down, and the bot, having been disconnected, then logged onto the next server in its server list.
Another possibility is that you are using $servlimit, which causes the bot to disconnect from the network if it believes a netsplit has cut it off from everybody else (depending on how you've set this).
Don't forget that netsplits usually occur because one of the servers involved is FUBAR, and if your side of the split is functioning normally, it's probably the side the bot is on which is having problems.

It is my server so I know it's no problem with that, it's a OpenBSD server on a ADSL connection.
The bot is on quakenet and it's many netsplits there, but if you wait untill it's over you will regain your op.
The $servlimit is in the .conf file right?

are you sure that in that example, thumper.dk.quakenet.org did not just die completely (thus the bot would jump because the server it was on had vanished)?

The server your bot was connected to may have become "stoned". i.e. Your bot has been disconnected, but the server has not informed it. The eggdrop may be set to check for this, and jump servers. Check your CONF file.
