But they are not really cheap...
You get what you pay for.
And that is Quality service.
You get more than with most other providers.
Unlimted e-mail addresses (
anything@username.ukshells.co.uk) and
username@ukshells.co.uk
50MB disk space (this is quite a lot)
VHost'd webspace (
www.username.ukshells.co.uk)
Gurenteed 24/7 support.
The staff are frieldly and the service is second to non.
Subscribe to them for 1 year, and a cheaper provider of your choice, that you feel would provide the same sort of service.
After you have done this, I can gurentee you will say that the price is justified.
Also note, they are a 100% in house hosted provider, located in the UK. I am am wondering if you know the costs involved in quality links into the UK backbone. Besides this, only a handfull of sites can actualy be provided.
In the US, it is possible to take a backbone link, into you house, with minimal setup costs.
In the UK, this would involve planning permission, and a fee per 100 meters of cable it take from the exchange (And we are talking about data exchange, to a telephone exchange).
This is true for fiber, and dedicated single use ISDN (above 2 channels).
For a 1MB feed to my house, 2 years ago, it would have cost £7000 setup. and then £1500 a month fee. This was 2 years ago,a nd the prices have gone down, but the prices are still out of reach for many startup companies.
I also ask, if any1 from the top 50 users, in the uptime charts, can state what type of provider they are using. Not what provider, just what type (own system, commercial shell, dedicated system, work box), and the price. Then we will have a better idea, as to where stability lies. In the price, or in the service provided.
