DCC Chat - Unable To Connect

Post by Unred »

Here's my problem..

DCC Chat session
-
Client: Unbot (127.0.0.1)
Time: Tue Jul 12 01:32:39 2005
-
Acknowledging chat request...
-
Unable to connect
-
DCC session closed

My question is WHY is it trying to connect to 127.0.0.1?
And even when an IP address does show up, it dosent connect eitherway.

I've checked my routers firewall ports, everything is configured correctly, the bot still isnt accepting.

Hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks.

Is this a windrop running on the same machine you are dcc chatting to?
The lifecycle of a noob is complex. Fledgling noobs gestate inside biometric pods. Once a budding noob has matured thru gestation they climb out of their pod, sit down at a PC, ask a bunch of questions that are clearly in the FAQ, The Noob is born

Nice question but ain't enough.

Let's start from the easiest things :P

* Is your bot connected to the server so you can see it with /whois ?
* As I understood, you're trying to connect to the bot using DCC - Chat. Did you know that there is also a way to make the bot find connection with you. Type then /ctcp botnick chat . The bot will connect to you and you can accept the DCC request.
* If still doesn't work, go to your config and find a line, which says the PORT NUMBER for the users. For example, you found it is - 3333. In that case open your ssh/telnet program and connect to the bot from there, by typing Host - the ip/hostname of the bot's shell ; Port - 3333 (example).

If you've done all this without any result, I think the problem is in your own connection and not the Eggdrop. Or, is it an eggdrop anyway ?
