I want to set-up my channel guard bot (GuardBot) so specific nicknames will not be able to join, for example to put persistent bans like (*[censored]*!*@*) etc..
I have two possibilities:
(1) either I use the ChanServ's AKICK list. Everything I put into the AKICK list is autokicked when joined the channel and ChanServ puts a dynamic ban on the channel (the ban is only placed, when the user joins).
(2) I put everything in my bots ban list and make the bans sticky??
What are the pro/contras? What would you advice me to do?? In time, I have put about 15 bans in my AKICK list.
Hope to hear some comments and please explain why to choose possibility 1 or 2.
Well if you dont want them to join at all use the sticky ban feature of eggdrop. the only Con to this is your banlist will fill up with permanent bans. Dynamic bans are that way so as not to fill up the ban list. Depends really on how many bans you are allowed to place on the channel. If you can live with watching them be evicted from the channel every time they try and join then leave it as an akick.
The lifecycle of a noob is complex. Fledgling noobs gestate inside biometric pods. Once a budding noob has matured thru gestation they climb out of their pod, sit down at a PC, ask a bunch of questions that are clearly in the FAQ, The Noob is born
@demond: I'm really kinda new to eggdrop although I have red the manuals a lot of times but I want to hear also ur opinions about that, because I'm not sure what's better and more efficient. I really don't want to bother you or getting on ur nerves with my questions.
@^doom^: I am allowed to have 100bans for my channel. At first I set up dynamic bans and sticky for unwanted nicknames. But I thought maybe it's better to use AKICK, so I can see how the join and are kicked. Maybe there is sometimes a misunderstanding and I can correct it. When I will use sticky dynamic bans, I never will see or get a message, right? (except of the logfiles). So I think it's better to use the AKICK for that, is it?
