Alright here is situation.
Main box is running win 98 SE, I've got ICS on it, and I can configure it to route ports.

Linux laptop is running the eggdrop. I've got the config setting the nat ip to my real world ip, the hostname is my hostname, and I've specified my range of ports as 2010-2020 as was the default in the config file.

On host machine, setup the routing of the ports.

Started eggdrop, it logged onto irc, tried to /ctcp botname chat. It'll take about 2 seconds, I'll accept the dcc chat, and it won't connect.

Any ideas?
TIA,

you cant go from inside your network to outside and then back in
if you want it to dcc chat you, it has to do it by ip, as do you when connecting to it
now if anyone else on the outside wants to dcc your bot they'll have no problem because of the nature of dcc, as long as they dont try to get the bot to connect to them ...

You were right. Everyone else can DCC in, and have the bot DCC chat them, just on me I have to run telnet and jump in on 192.168.0.2:<userport>

Thanks
