1.6.15 and ipv6 have i missed something?

Post by mopar »

Hello,
I wanted to try out ipv6 on an eggy and as I have only used ipv4 earlier i did some reading on old topics here and came to the conclusion that 1.6.15 would be the best option.

So I downloaded and installed that and changed the conf.file including the "my ip" and my vhost" for ipv6. Of course I added ipv6 efnet servers.

The bot works just fine and joins efnet without any problems apart for the fact that it joins with the shells ipv4 vhost, the shell has ipv6 (native)

My question now is, do I need something additional for this to work? An tcl or an addon or something like that, or if not, what is the most likly thing I have missed?

Thank you in advance

does the IPv6 host also resolve to an IPv4? address? You should only set either one, my-ip or my-hostname.

Hi De Kus,

First of all, thanks for helping me.
As far as i know it doesn't, I copied the IP part of the conf as i have it right now.

# If you're using virtual hosting (your machine has more than 1 IP), you
# may want to specify the particular IP to bind to. You can specify either
# by hostname or by IP. You may also want to set the hostname here if
# Eggdrop has trouble detecting it when it starts up.
#set my-hostname "lalala.com"
#set my-ip "999.888.77.66"

# If you're using IPv6 support, set the IPv6 IP address and hostname to bind to
# here. You still need to set my-ip.
set my-hostname6 "my.cool.vhost.com"
set my-ip6 "2001:111:1:1002::66"

The part I dont get is the "You still need to set my-ip" what does that mean really, should I add the ipv6 IP to the ipv4 "my-ip" line aswell?? that makes no sence.
