Eggdrop and Shells Question

Post by Manish »

I am very much new to all these .. I would like to know something , If i buy a Shell account , I can put unlimited Eggdrops to a channel ?

I want to make my channel look a bit crowded with the bots .. since it is new, the bots will be very useful to the channel .. Are Eggdrops what i need to do this ?

Also i saw in a channel many nicknames having NICK is a Network Service

eg
Sensation is sensation@sensation.radio * sensation
Sensation is a Network Service
Sensation End of /WHOIS list.

How was this set up?

Thanks lots

Yeah you can run eggdrops from shells, most net wont allow more than 3-4 connections with the same ident however before you get banned, so if you want a bunch of eggies make sure you get more than one login or more than one shell. Bots (eggdrops) are excellent for keeping a channel secure and up 24/7

For your last question i think you are refering to something called personal vhost, most shell companies will have alot of vhosts to choose from such as "cool.vhost.com" and so on, those are available for all customers. But you can also get a personal vhost for an extra cost. Usually there are two ways to achieve this, you either own a domain yourself such as domain.com and then they point it towards an IP of that shell, the second way is that you can make an vhost of one of the shell companies domains, lets say they own a domain like cool.com then you might be abel to get like i.am.cool.com for an extra cost.

One thing to note; most Networks will kill channel fillers. So, your plan to populate your channel with bots will more than likely come unstuck.
Add [SOLVED] to the thread title if your issue has been.

Hello, no i need just 5-10 bots to kick start the channel .. since when people come to a rather empty channel they will prefer to leave .
