hi everyone!

i just want to say thanks for all these continous updates, nice work here really!

on a sidenote, i just downloaded the new script imdb.2112.tcl and replaced the old one with it. however it seems this version is still omitting the rating, is it?
reason i'm asking is because, even if i leave the standard rosc output untouched, i only get the following output:

Code: Select all

[27/02/07; 22:30:25] <Pezibaer> Ghost Rider (2007) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0259324/

[27/02/07; 22:30:37] <Pezibaer> Runtime : USA:114 min

[27/02/07; 22:30:49] <Pezibaer> Plot : Based on the Marvel character, stunt motorcyclist Johnny Blaze gives up his soul to become a hellblazing vigilante, to fight against power hungry Blackheart, the son of the devil himself.
[27/02/07; 22:30:51] <Pezibaer> Cast : (Showing first 5 only)
[27/02/07; 22:30:53] <Pezibaer> Matt Long ... Young Johnny Blaze

[27/02/07; 22:30:59] <Pezibaer> Peter Fonda ... Mephistopheles
[27/02/07; 22:31:01] <Pezibaer> Nicolas Cage ... Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider
as you can see, the rating (as well as some other unimportant stuff) is left out.

any clues as to how to solve that?

kind regards and thanks for the script :)

hi ov2!

i appreciate your reply, however i already tried the version you linked and it as well appears to be not up to date, the output i get by attempting to request ghost rider is:

Code: Select all

[28/02/07; 01:04:24] <@meks|dsk> !imdb ghost rider
[28/02/07; 01:04:28] <Pezibaer> Ghost Rider (2007) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0259324/
[28/02/07; 01:04:30] <Pezibaer> Genre: Action / Fantasy / Thriller
[28/02/07; 01:04:32] <Pezibaer> Tagline: His Curse Will Become His Power
[28/02/07; 01:04:34] <Pezibaer> Synopsis: Based on the Marvel character, stunt motorcyclist Johnny Blaze gives up his soul to become a hellblazing vigilante, to fight against power hungry Blackheart, the son of the devil himself.
[28/02/07; 01:04:36] <Pezibaer> Runtime: 114 mins.
the announcement is set the following:

Code: Select all

set announce(IMDBIRC) "%bold%title%bold - %url\n|Genre: %genre|\n|Tagline: %tagline|\n|Synopsis: %plot|\n|Rating: %rating (%votes votes) %rbar| |%color3%top250%color|\n|Awards: %awards|\n|Runtime: %time mins.|"
as you see, still no rating-output.

sorry, i know this is disturbing :)

Well - I fixed it before I made my post, so if you download the newest version it should work...

Note that I'm no longer updating the copy I had online, it should in fact be offline, so maybe you got a cached copy.

Edit: Weird, I'd renamed the file to *.old, but dandy.net was still providing it under the original *.txt name..I have no idea why. Anyway, it's now gone completely.

And yes, the new version from ov2 works :)

Did you rehash? It does work. Try enabling the debug setting to see what's going on if you're still not seeing the ratings. This is what I get as a result, using the announce(IMDBIRC) setting posted previously with all tags enabled:

Code: Select all

<rosc> .imdb star wars
<TheEntity> Star Wars (1977) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076759/
<TheEntity> Tagline : A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
<TheEntity> Genre : Action / Adventure / Family / Fantasy / Sci-Fi
<TheEntity> Awards : Won 6 Oscars. Another 28 wins & 18 nominations
<TheEntity> Rating : 8.8/10 (185,772 votes) [*********-] Top 250: #12
<TheEntity> MPAA : Rated PG for sci-fi violence and brief mild language. (special edition, DVD version)
<TheEntity> Director: George Lucas -
<TheEntity> Writer : George Lucas (written by)
<TheEntity> Runtime : 121
<TheEntity> Country : USA
<TheEntity> Language: English
<TheEntity> Budget : $13,000,000 (estimated)
<TheEntity> 1st week: $35,906,661 (USA) (2 February 1997) (2 Screens)
<TheEntity> Sound : 70 mm 6-Track (70 mm prints) / DTS 70 mm (special edition) (70 mm prints) (Europe) / DTS (special edition) / Dolby Digital (special edition) / Dolby (35 mm prints) / SDDS (special edition)
<TheEntity> Plot : Luke Skywalker leaves his home planet, teams up with other rebels, and tries to save Princess Leia from the evil clutches of Darth Vader.
<TheEntity> Cast : (Showing first 5 only)
<TheEntity> Mark Hamill ... Luke Skywalker
<TheEntity> Harrison Ford ... Han Solo
<TheEntity> Carrie Fisher ... Princess Leia Organa
<TheEntity> Peter Cushing ... Grand Moff Tarkin
<TheEntity> Alec Guinness ... Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi
<TheEntity> [end of IMDb entry]

I think that this line

Code: Select all

regsub -all {\|[^\|]*?N/A[^\|]*?\|} $output "" output
in imdb.tcl can cause problems if you have more than one variable per output line.
It filters all announce parts which are surrounded by |'s and contain the string "N/A".

So if you e.g. added a rating announce like this

Code: Select all

|Rating: %rating (%votes votes) %top250|
then almost all !imdb requests but 350 exceptions (top 250 and bottom 100) will not show ratings because their top250 variable contains "N/A".

Try a rating announce like this

Code: Select all

|Rating: %rating (%votes votes)|| %top250|
instead as suggested in the default example.

That's right - having more than one variable on one line and still suppressing the corresponding output if no data is found is exactly the point of the encapsulation with the pipe character.

rating doesnt work

Post by chz »

meks is correct, the rating does not display at all. I have the exact problem and even tried what gr11x said to do, and it didn't fix the problem. So is there anything we can do to fix this? I really love this script, but the rating is the most important part.

Thanks,
chz

This is what I use, as posted previously:

Code: Select all

|%boldRating :%bold %rating (%votes votes) %rbar| |%color5%top250%color|\n\
It works just fine when there is missing data. Note that the \ at the end of the line is because of how I format the entire announce(IMDBIRC) var, so that it's visually easier to see the entire block of code (see the previous page in this thread for the entire setting I use.)

This is how the result looks when all data is present:

Rating : 8.8/10 (185,974 votes) [*********-] Top 250: #12

And when some data is missing (eg, the top/bottom 250):

Rating : 8.4/10 (402 votes) [********--]

Edit: I thought the problem might've been the lack of a space in between the || chars in the other peoples' string, but I just tested it as

|%boldRating :%bold %rating (%votes votes) %rbar||%color5%top250%color|\n\

and that works as well. Tried it without color and bold codes, that worked too. And just on the off chance that my copy of the script had custom changes still that might've effected the result, I put in a clean copy from ov2's site, put in my usual announce(IMDBIRC) setting, did a restart, and tried it again, and that also worked.

So, I dunno what all the complaints are about. Post your entire announce(IMDBIRC) setting and we'll see if yours is broke. Also post which movies you're trying that aren't working.

Thanks :)

Just one question for ya, what is the scene check for? I'm guessing it's when people ask for a particular release, like 'star wars uncut' ?
