rss script posting every X mins

Post by LeSaint »

Hello everyone!
I've been looking for a script able to get latest news thanks to rss for weeks now! I've found a lot of scripts but I wasn't able to find one which posts the 5 latest news every 30mins (for example). Most scripts are able to check every 30 mins if new news have been posted but none is able to what I'm looking for.
As I'm french and I was even unable to explain it to friends in french I'll try to re-explain it again here in order to be shure that you get what I mean :D
I'm looking for a script which posts the 5 last news every 30mins (for example), even if he already posted the same ones.
I hope that everone understood what I ment.
As I have been searching for weeks I would be VERY gratefull if someone could help me!
Thanks a lot!

P.S: I'm using rss-synd ( http://labs.wizzer-it.com/ ) at the moment

I found 37 scripts already written for news at the tcl archive, including klip irc news, which is in french and english. Won't this do the same kinda thing you are looking for?

It's not a problem if the script is in english or in french, I do understand it anyway.
The only problem is to find a script able to send for example the 5 latest news every 30 mins. But most scripts only check every 30mins if there's something new on the rss feed.
I'll check the script you are talking of out anyway and tell you if it works.
thanks a lot :)

************UPDATE**************

well... really sorry but I just can't get this script to work. I tried to find some doc or hints on the internet but all the links are down :/
Any other idea? Another script would be even better :P
thx again! :)

YooHoo gave you suggestions and then there is Google.

You may wish to check out Eggdrop-FR.Org. :)

As I already said:
well... really sorry but I just can't get this script to work. I tried to find some doc or hints on the internet but all the links are down :/
;)
And don't worry, I already tried google during HOURS ! I found absolutely nothing!
Could anyone give me at least some links or some words to look for on google. Cause I'm serious, I already looked and asked everywhere I could and nobody couldn't help me!
I wouldn't be posting these messages if I didn't already tried everthing I could! :/
thx again

***EDIT***

In fact I know that the "only" thing I need is a timer which launches the "posting command" (I told you that I was a noob in scripting xD ) of rss-synd. But I've got 2 problems:
_I don't know how to make a timer
_I don't know what the "posting command" is :/

Have you looked at rssnews.tcl by demond?

It does work, which is a big plus. The klip script is 7 years old so it would be a bit of a miracle for the author to still be around.

Just because you keep bumping this topic doesn't mean anyone is going to make it.

My suggestion would be to take one of the existing rss scripts, analyze how it works, then cache its results and have the bot repeat the last xx news items. Not that hard to write the news items into a file then show them in the channel.. Check the FAQ for how to read/write files..

If I were "bumping" this topic I would have posten much more messages. I just wanted to make shure that someone who could tell me which script is doing what I'm looking for could read this.
But as I see a noob shouldn't stay too long around...
see ya
thx a lot...

P.S: I wouldn't be here if I already knew how to do or how to learn it by myself

I would place a request with demond actually (as a feature request). His being the better rss script (updating every 30 minutes). :)
