Do as the error suggests; Don't run your eggdrop while logged on as root...

Compile and run eggdrop from your user account.
When is states "Eggdrop will not run as root!", that is literal.

Just type adduser or useradd from the prompt. And it will make a sepreate non-root account. When it ask for groups choose "wheel" (i do that for su(superuser)). Then run eggdrop from the non-root account.

Explain?
Would you please read your *nix documentation re adding a user account. Also reference the security documentation paying special attention as to why you do not log onto your box as root and "play".
