Server says my nickname is invalid

Post by z_one »

Hi,

What event is raised when the bot says: "Server says my nickname is invalid" ?

The thing is that after my bot gets disconnected and its nick is held by services on DALnet it cannot reconnect again.
It keeps saying: "Server says my nickname is invalid".

I have to telnet to the bot and make it release/recover its nick manually by typing ".dump ns release nick <pass>".

Also what is the event raised when the bot says: "NICK IS INVALID: keeping BotNick34" for example ?

**Edit: found these posts:

Will try the BIND RAW solution.

z_one: The script in that example (which I did fix up) is not entirely 100% effective, especially if DALnet is having "one of those days".

You may still need to issue the release trigger to NickServ.

Also check that the bots access list is up-to-date.
Add [SOLVED] to the thread title if your issue has been.
