I have set max bans in my conf file to 100 ( DALnet) but the bans dont seem to be applied only kicks which cause a flood inthemselves.. especialy bans in the bots banlist when somone join it keeps kicking them until some other op/bot bans..
i have other scripts loaded which ban fine eg MC_8's antiflyby
it seems to not ban as far as from wot i could see after 50+ bans
somone told me to .restart the bot but i had already done that a few tiems just to be on the safe side. plus restarted it from the shell but never had any luck
I am running sentinel as a standalone script and when flooders re appear it keeps kicking them saying they are banned and actualy helps them flood more unless i keep removing all the bans

This is why it's important to have sl_bfmaxbans set correctly. If the ban list contains more than the number of bans specified in sl_bfmaxbans, the bot will not remove the +i and new flooders will not be able to join, preventing an endless kick flood. It's suggested you use this period to refine the bans that sentinel has placed so that more flooders can be banned with fewer bans, and report the flooders to server admins.
The kicking-but-not-banning syndrome of eggdrop has already been discussed and its to deal with the correct net-type (in the conf) but i myself see it happening on my bots sometimes.
